Summer Reading and Math
Each summer at Holy Cross School, we encourage students to complete summer reading and math assignments for continued strengthening of math and literacy skills, while preparing students for the coming year's studies.
Summer Reading
Students in grades 4 through 12 are assigned summer reading. We are also excited to announce our first annual Summer Reading Challenge for students in grades K through 3.
The summer reading lists and assignments can be accessed in the resources below. Each student should click on the link that indicates his upcoming English course. In August when school begins, students will write in response to their reading, and this writing and a grade for the work that went with the reading (either annotations for high school students or a packet for middle school students) will be their first grades in English class. Please note that there is also a reading for students entering AP World History, AP Seminar, and Research & Rhetoric Honor Scholars.
Students should not use any form of generative AI to assist with this assignment. Families of 8th graders, you will receive an email the week of June 8 regarding your son's placement in English class.
If you have any questions about summer reading, please contact Ms. Aquilo at kaquilo@hcnola.org or Ms. Chabreck at achabreck@hcnola.org.
Summer Math
This summer, Holy Cross School students in grades 5 through 12 will complete their summer math work on IXL. Students in grades K through 4 are also encouraged and welcomed to participate and practice this summer on IXL math.
